LUNDU: A spirit of compassion and togetherness was reflected through the “Program Sentuhan Kasih Belia Qurban bersama Komuniti Mualaf” held at Kampung Pasir Ulu here today (May 28).

The programme involved the distribution of qurban meat to the local mualaf community and was organised by Kelab Belia Gagasan Inspirasi Bandar Kuching (KBGIK), led by its president, Abang Afhi Affandy, in collaboration with the Persatuan Kebangsaan Melayu Sarawak, headed by Muhammad Aniq Aqmar Mual.

The initiative received encouraging support from local youths and villagers, who actively participated throughout the programme. Volunteers also assisted in preparing and packaging the qurban meat before it was distributed to families in the surrounding area.

The organisers said the programme was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen unity and encourage community participation through charitable activities, especially in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha.

According to Abang Afhi, the initiative aimed to share blessings while extending support to the mualaf community in Pasir Ulu during Aidiladha.

“The programme is not only about distributing qurban meat, but also about strengthening ties and showing care towards our brothers and sisters in the community,” he said.

Members of the local mualaf community also worked hand in hand to ensure the smooth running of the programme.

Meanwhile, independent preacher for the Pasir Ulu area, Zahari Abdullah, 63, expressed gratitude to the organisers for their continued support and concern for the local community.

Zahari, who embraced Islam 44 years ago in 1982, said such programmes help foster closer relationships among villagers, particularly within the Persatuan Islam community in Kampung Pasir Ulu.

“We are very grateful because the younger generation today are caring and willing to help communities like ours,” he said.

He added that KBGIK had previously organised similar contribution programmes for villagers and hoped more assistance could be extended to those in need in the future.
