SARIKEI: Aidiladha serves as a reminder of important values such as sincerity, gratitude and unity that should continue to be upheld within the community.

Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii said these values should also be reflected in daily life as they help strengthen social cohesion regardless of race, religion and background.

He said this at the Sarikei Division Qurban Ceremony for 2026M/1447H at Masjid Al-Muttaqin here on Thursday.

A total of 16 cattle were contributed by Huang for the qurban programme, involving nine cattle for the Sarikei area and seven for Meradong.

He said the contribution was part of ongoing efforts to support community-based religious programmes and strengthen ties among local residents.

Huang, who is also the Sarikei MP and Repok assemblyman, said his participation reflected the strong unity and close relations among the multi-ethnic community in Sarikei.

“Although I do not share the same religious beliefs, my presence here proves the strong bond of unity and togetherness among the people in Sarikei Division,” he said.

He added that such programmes play an important role in fostering goodwill and strengthening social cohesion regardless of race, religion and background.

He also expressed hope that continued cooperation among communities would further drive development and ensure the well-being of the Sarikei Division.

The event also underscored the importance of sustaining unity and collaboration as a foundation for long-term progress in the region.
