PADAWAN: A search for a missing wedding guest ended on a light-hearted note after he was found fast asleep beside a washing machine at a neighbour’s house early this morning.

The man had sparked concern after disappearing during a wedding reception in Kampung Sira, prompting family members and villagers to launch a search.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received a distress call at 4.39 am and immediately dispatched a team from the Siburan fire station to assist.

However, before police arrived and the search operation could be expanded, villagers stumbled upon the missing man at about 6am.

“He was found safe and asleep beside a washing machine at a neighbour’s house,” a Bomba spokesperson said.

According to initial information, the man had attended a wedding at St Martin de Porres Catholic Church before he was believed to have wandered off and could not be located.

Firefighters were later informed that he had stepped out to relieve himself near a relative’s house before going missing.

With the man found safe and sound, the operation was called off at 6.09am.
