MIRI: Sarawak Water has urged the public not to share an unauthorised water supply interruption notice circulating on WhatsApp and social media.
In a statement posted on its Facebook page today (June 8), Sarawak Water clarified that the notice circulating on WhatsApp and social media is false and was not issued by the agency.
It also stressed that the notice is not related to the current situation.
“For public information, the scheduled repair works involving the main pipeline at Mile 7, Miri-Bintulu Road are planned to be carried out on June 10.
“Any official information regarding the repair works, including the affected areas, duration of the interruption and assistance measures for consumers, will only be communicated through Sarawak Water’s official communication channels.
“The public is therefore advised not to share or circulate unverified information to avoid unnecessary confusion and concern among consumers,” it said.
It added that Sarawak Water views the dissemination of false or inaccurate information that causes public confusion seriously.
“Appropriate action, including reports to the relevant authorities, may be taken against any party found to be spreading such false information,” it added.
Sarawak Water further urged consumers to refer only to its official communication channels for accurate and up-to-date information, including its website and verified Facebook page, for accurate and up-to-date information.
“Sarawak Water will continue to provide updates from time to time should there be any further developments,” it said.
