KUCHING: Drainage upgrading works costing RM2.53 million at Taman Happy Valley are progressing on schedule.
Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin said this following a site inspection of the project today.
Yap expressed he was pleased with the progress of the construction works and reiterated his commitment to personally monitor the project until its completion within the stipulated timeframe.
“The people of Taman Happy Valley have endured flash flood problems for many years.
“This project did not happen overnight. It is the result of persistent engagement, numerous site visits, continuous follow-ups with the relevant authorities, and a systematic effort to secure the necessary funding and approvals,” he said.
He stressed that securing project allocations alone was not sufficient, and that ensuring proper implementation on the ground was equally crucial.
Yap said his approach to public service had always been action-oriented and focused on delivering tangible results, adding that his role as an elected representative extended well beyond raising issues in the legislature.
“It begins with identifying problems, engaging stakeholders, securing solutions, monitoring implementation, and following through until the issues are resolved.
“This is the systematic approach that I have consistently adopted in serving the people of Kota Sentosa,” he added.
He described the Taman Happy Valley project as an example of how longstanding community concerns could be resolved through close cooperation between residents, government agencies, and committed elected representatives.
Yap reaffirmed his commitment to addressing infrastructure, drainage, road safety, and public amenity concerns throughout the constituency, pledging to continue working with all relevant agencies to bring meaningful improvements to residents.
