KUCHING: Two achievements by the Sarawak Transformation and Innovation Unit (STIU) under the Premier’s Department have been recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records (MBR),

The awards reflect the state government’s commitment to strengthening governance and driving excellence in the public sector.

The recognitions were awarded under the categories of “First Public Service Agency to Implement A Sustainable Transformation and Innovation Framework” through the development of the SCS-NEXT sustainability framework, and “The First Integrated Public Sector Excellence Certification Ecosystem By A State Government in Malaysia”.

The awards were presented to STIU director Superi Awang Said by an MBR representative before being handed over to Deputy State Secretary (Operation) Datuk Hii Chang Kee during a ceremony held at Wisma Bapa Malaysia on Tuesday (June 9) according to the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS).

It quoted Hii as saying the recognitions should serve as a catalyst for continuous improvement in public service delivery rather than being viewed merely as accolades.

“Let us not just seek awards only to forget about them afterwards and return to the old ways we used to practice,” he said.

Hii said the SCS-NEXT sustainability framework was developed to ensure that transformation and innovation initiatives within the Sarawak Civil Service are implemented in a sustainable, structured and consistent manner.

He also said the framework provides a foundation for sustaining innovation and transformation projects throughout the state while supporting the government’s broader reform agenda.

“Sustainability remains a key focus of the state government across various sectors, including energy and natural resources, in line with ongoing efforts to transform the state civil service,” he said.

On the second recognition, Hii said the integrated public sector excellence certification ecosystem represents a strategic approach towards strengthening evidence-based performance assessment while enhancing public confidence in the capabilities and effectiveness of the civil service.

“The implementation of both initiatives is expected to contribute towards reducing bureaucracy, improving efficiency and delivering more responsive, outcome-oriented government services,” he said.
