KUCHING: The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sarawak (ACCCIS) will hold a public eco enzyme workshop later this month to promote environmental awareness and sustainable living practices.

The one-day programme, titled “How To Retain The Blue Sky 2.0: Five Eco Enzyme Lessons”, will be held on June 27 at Chung Hua Middle School No. 1, Kuching.

On Wednesday, ACCCIS said in a press statement that the workshop is being organised following the encouraging response to the inaugural programme held in 2024.

According to ACCCIS, the initiative supports the Sarawak government’s Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030), particularly its emphasis on green economic growth and sustainable development.

The workshop is being jointly organised with the Kuching Chinese General Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCGCCI) and supported by the Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government.

“Through this programme, we hope more members of the public will understand the value of eco enzymes and adopt environmentally friendly practices in their daily lives,” it said.

ACCCIS said that eco enzymes are natural liquids produced through the fermentation of fruit peels, vegetable scraps and other forms of household organic waste.

It explained that eco enzymes can help reduce organic waste while serving practical functions in household cleaning, agriculture and environmental conservation activities.

It added that eco enzymes have gained increasing international recognition in recent years and are attracting growing interest among educational and academic institutions.

The workshop will feature senior trainer Chan Thim Meng from Eko Enzim Malaysia, who will conduct sessions covering five key areas of eco enzyme applications.

“These include household uses, home care and emergency response, environmental purification, agricultural applications and social sustainability,” ACCCIS said.

The Chinese-language programme will run from 8.30am until 4.30pm and participation is free of charge, with places limited to 120 participants on a first-come, first-served basis.

Registration will close on June 20 or earlier.

Interested members of the public may register through the online form available at https://forms.gle/rFr35GMU4qgk9ERk7 or contact the ACCCIS Secretariat for further information.
