SELANGAU: The construction of the new Selangau District Education Office (PPD), valued at RM35 million, marks a significant milestone in strengthening the district’s expanding education administration needs.
Tamin assemblyman, Christopher Gira Sambang, said the project will provide more modern, comfortable and complete facilities to support the duties of education personnel in Selangau.
He also said the new office is expected to create a more conducive and professional working environment for all education staff in carrying out their daily duties and responsibilities.
“Previously, the operations of the Selangau District Education Office were conducted in rented shop premises provided by the government,” he added.
“Although education services continued to be delivered well, the existing facilities were limited and less suitable to accommodate the increasingly growing administrative needs.”
He said this when speaking at the earth-breaking ceremony for the new Selangau District Education Office construction project today (June 12).

He added that the construction of the new office will not only provide more organised working space for education staff, but is also expected to improve the quality of service delivery to schools, teachers, students, and the community throughout the district.
“The construction of this new office is a very appropriate and significant step,” he enthused.
“It will not only provide a more orderly and comfortable working space for education staff, but will also improve the efficiency of service delivery to schools, teachers, students, and the community across the Selangau District.”
Gira said the construction of the Selangau PPD is part of the government’s ongoing education development agenda in the district.
He added that among the key education projects currently being implemented are the construction of the new SMK Selangau worth RM81 million, the replacement project for a new male dormitory, dining hall, and upgrading of the treated water system at SMK Ulu Balingian, as well as the new construction of the RM35-million PPD Selangau.
In addition, the government is also focusing on rebuilding and upgrading schools in need of better facilities, including SK Sungai Sepiring, SK Batu 36, SK Dijih, and SK Penghulu Imban.
