MUKAH: Construction of the new RM500,000 multipurpose hall at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) St Patrick Mukah is in its final stage and is expected to be completed soon.

The project, implemented under the Sarawak government’s Rural Transformation Programme (RTP), aims to enhance school facilities and improve comfort for students and staff.

To ensure smooth implementation, Deputy Minister of Health Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib recently conducted a site visit to review the progress of the project.

Prior to the visit, she received briefings from the school management and the Mukah Division Public Works Department (PWD) on the background of SMK St Patrick and the current status of the hall construction.

SMK St Patrick Mukah, which is 121 years old, is among the oldest educational institutions in the Mukah Division and continues to play an important role in producing knowledgeable and capable graduates.

Hanifah, who is also Mukah MP, said the provision of complete and conducive educational facilities is essential in supporting the teaching and learning process while contributing to students’ overall development.

“Continuous monitoring of development projects is important to ensure they comply with specifications and are completed on schedule.

“The government remains committed to upgrading rural educational facilities to create a more comfortable and safe learning environment for school communities,” she said.

Hanifah has previously channelled various forms of assistance to SMK St Patrick Mukah, including upgrading works and the construction of new facilities to meet the school’s needs.
