KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has been appointed patron of the Sarawak Heart Foundation, effective April 15 this year.
His official letter of appointment was presented during a courtesy call by the foundation’s board of trustees, led by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, at the Satria Pertiwi Complex here today (June 16).
The delegation also introduced the foundation’s leadership and discussed efforts to promote heart health awareness and prevent cardiovascular diseases in Sarawak.
Dr Sim was also appointed chairman of the Sarawak Heart Foundation on April 15.
During the meeting, discussions focused on the foundation’s role in educating the public on heart health, disease prevention and the implementation of educational and welfare programmes.
The visit also served as a platform to strengthen cooperation between the foundation and the Sarawak government in expanding public health initiatives and enhancing the wellbeing of the people.
The foundation expressed appreciation for Abang Johari’s acceptance of the patron role, saying his support would further strengthen its efforts to promote heart health and healthy lifestyles throughout the state.
