JAPAN: JCI Malaysia Area Sarawak strengthened its international standing after recording a series of achievements at the 2026 JCI Asia Pacific Conference (ASPAC) held in Niigata, Japan.
Led by Area Sarawak chairperson Siew Young Ming, a delegation of nearly 30 members represented Sarawak at the conference from June 11 to 14.
JCI Malaysia Area Sarawak said the delegation’s achievements reflected the dedication of Sarawakian youth leaders in leadership development, international cooperation and community impact.
“The accomplishments recorded during ASPAC 2026 demonstrate the capability, commitment and unity of JCI members across Sarawak in pursuing excellence locally and globally,” it said in a press statement on Tuesday (June 16).
Among the conference highlights was the successful graduation of Kenny Hii from JCI Riam and Samuel Ngu from JCI Sibu as Certified National Trainers (CNT).
The achievement strengthens the pool of qualified trainers within JCI Malaysia and reinforces Area Sarawak’s commitment to nurturing future leaders and trainers of excellence.
Area Sarawak also celebrated success in the English Debate Competition, where a team representing JCI Malaysia advanced to the semi-finals of the prestigious event.
The team, comprising members from JCI Lutong and JCI Padawan, impressed judges with their confidence, communication skills and critical thinking abilities on the international stage.
Meanwhile, JCI Lutong earned international recognition after its flagship project, “MYY Usahawan Muda 2025: Miri’s Junior Entrepreneur Programme”, won the E-Award for Best Local Individual Development Programme.
The award recognised the project’s contribution towards empowering young entrepreneurs and encouraging entrepreneurial development among youths through meaningful educational initiatives and engagement.
Beyond competitions, delegates actively promoted Sarawak’s cultural diversity through Culture Night, networking sessions, workshops and training programmes attended by participants from across the Asia-Pacific region.
According to the statement, these exchanges strengthened international friendships while enhancing global appreciation of Sarawak as a vibrant and culturally diverse destination.
Siew expressed pride in the delegation’s accomplishments, noting that their success reflected the determination of Sarawak’s young leaders to create positive change and meaningful impact.
JCI Malaysia Area Sarawak also congratulated all award recipients, participants and delegates, describing the achievements as further evidence of Area Sarawak’s position among the most dynamic regions within JCI Malaysia.
