KUCHING: More than 50 exhibitors from Sabah and Sarawak are set to take part in the DCCI-KCCI Gawai Kaamatan Celebration 2026 Cultural and Business Exhibition at the Dayak Cultural Foundation on June 27 and 28.

The two-day exhibition will bring together entrepreneurs, artisans and community groups from both states, offering visitors a glimpse into Borneo’s cultural heritage and locally made products.

Jointly organised in conjunction with the Gawai and Kaamatan celebrations, the programme aims to promote closer ties between Sabah and Sarawak through culture, business and community engagement.

Deputy Chairperson of the Cultural and Business Exhibition, Shalane Matthew, said the event is ultimately about bringing people together.

“You’ve got artisans, entrepreneurs, performers and visitors all in one place.

“It’s not just about showing products or performances – it’s about sharing who we are, where we come from, and what we’re building together as Sabahans and Sarawakians.

“We hope people come down, take their time, talk to the exhibitors, enjoy the performances, and just soak in the atmosphere. It’s a simple idea, but one that means a lot to us,” she said.

Among the highlights are cultural performances from Sabah and a traditional Gendang Kantu performance by a troupe from Lubok Antu.

Sabah Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Ewon Benedick, is expected to officiate the exhibition on June 27, while Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, is scheduled to conduct a walkabout on the second day.

The exhibition will run from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm daily, and admission is free.
