KUCHING: The Sarawak Civil Service (SCS) remains focused on ensuring that development initiatives under the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 deliver tangible benefits to the people.
State Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, said the civil service is ready in terms of capacity and capability to support programmes and initiatives introduced by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
“We place emphasis on a results-based approach. This means every plan, implementation and project carried out must be genuinely felt by the people.
“The people must benefit from every project and initiative implemented, because for us, the people are always the priority,” he said after officiating at the 2025 Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) Excellence Service Award ceremony at Pullman Hotel here on Tuesday.
Abu Bakar said SCS continues to strengthen the capabilities of civil servants while encouraging the adoption of digital technology and new work practices to improve service delivery.
He said the 3R approach – Revisit, Rethink and Recharge – should be continuously applied to help civil servants evaluate performance, address weaknesses, and cultivate innovation.
“With the changing expectations of the people, we as civil servants must also change in the way we deliver services.
“If there are newer and more effective approaches, then we must implement them to ensure that the services provided remain relevant and meet the needs of the people,” he added.
He noted that the impact of Sarawak’s development agenda is becoming increasingly visible through the implementation of infrastructure projects across the state, including roads, bridges, village expansion schemes, and water and electricity supply projects.
