Late Kamil was Nancy’s steadfast pillar of strength

KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg paid tribute to the late Datuk Kamil Misuari as a steadfast pillar of strength who stood by Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri throughout her political journey and years of public service.

After paying his last respects at Nancy’s official residence in Petra Jaya today (June 19), Abang Johari said Kamil had been a constant source of encouragement and support as Nancy carried out her responsibilities as a political leader and minister.

He said Kamil’s unwavering presence behind the scenes had played an important role in helping Nancy navigate the demands and challenges of public office.

The Premier also expressed confidence that Nancy would continue to carry out her duties with the same determination and commitment despite the loss.

“I am confident Datuk Seri Nancy will continue to fulfil her responsibilities with the same spirit and dedication,” he said.

Abang Johari extended his condolences to Nancy and her family, and prayed that they would be granted strength and patience during this difficult time.

He also prayed that Kamil’s soul would be blessed and placed among the faithful.

Kamil passed away on Thursday (June 18) and his remains were flown from Kuala Lumpur to Kuching today (June 19) before being brought to Nancy’s official residence at Taman Serira, Petra Jaya, where family members, friends, dignitaries and members of the public gathered to pay their final respects.

He will be laid to rest at the Samariang Islamic Cemetery.
