Airport firefighter flexes to Mr Sarawak 2026 crown

KUCHING: Airport firefighter Muhamad Faredhzuan Termizi Saufi emerged as the biggest winner at the 60th Mr Sarawak Bodybuilding Championships 2026, claiming the Champion of Champions title and helping Kuching secure the overall team crown.

Held at Boulevard Shopping Mall on Saturday (June 20), the annual competition marked its 60th anniversary and featured 43 athletes representing the Kuching, Miri and Sibu zones competing across nine categories.

The championship was organised by the Kuching Division Bodybuilding Association (KDBBA) under the sanction of the Sarawak Bodybuilding Association (SBBA).

Earlier in the competition, Muhamad Faredhzuan won the Bodybuilding Up To 75kg category, earning crucial points that contributed to Kuching being crowned Team Champion.

Miri athletes also enjoyed a strong outing, with Mohd Bayazid Bistami Iswandy winning the Sports Physique Under-170cm title, Chong Hien Yung taking the Athletic Physique Under-170cm crown, and Sariwin Mudim emerging victorious in the Bodybuilding Up To 70kg category.

Kuching’s other winners were Nasriq Tambi in the Sports Physique Above-170cm category, Gabriel Leroy Andy in Athletic Physique Above-170cm, Daubline Timbol in Bodybuilding Up To 60kg, and Jwendy Joshua in Bodybuilding Up To 80kg.

Ranovich Matthew of Miri won the Bodybuilding Up To 65kg category.

Meanwhile, Miri’s Asdillah Asmat Sefri received the Best Poser award for his stage presentation and posing routine.

The championships attracted 24 athletes from Kuching, 12 from Miri and seven from Sibu, showcasing the depth of bodybuilding talent across Sarawak.

Deputy Youth and Sports Minister of Malaysia Mordi Bimol officiated at the opening ceremony.

Also present were Malaysian Bodybuilding Federation president Abdul Karim Abdullah, Sarawak Bodybuilding Association president Dr Malvern Abdullah, Kuching Division Bodybuilding Association president Adrian Wong, and Miri Division Bodybuilding Association president Jamilah Ibrahim.
