SINGER Lah Ahmad has revealed that he once tried to reunite the members of VE, but the effort ultimately fell through as his former bandmates chose to focus on careers and interests outside the music industry.
The 46-year-old singer said he respects their decision, noting that everyone is now at a different stage in life.
“You can’t force people. If they do not want to reunite, we have to respect that,” he said at a recent press conference for Soul City: An R&B Night in Kuala Lumpur.
Lah, best known for the hit ‘Adinda’, said the chemistry that once defined VE must come naturally.
“I can tell whether that chemistry is still there or not. It’s a bit like meeting an ex-partner — it’s not always easy to reconnect in the same way,” he said.
After nearly two decades as a solo artiste, Lah admitted he has mixed feelings about returning to a group format.
“Of course I miss it, but I’ve also grown comfortable working on my own. It’s much easier to manage schedules and commitments as a solo performer,” he explained.
Despite the challenges, Lah said he remains open to the possibility of a reunion should the opportunity arise.
“I’ve always hoped we could perform together again.
But I understand now that these things cannot be forced, even though many fans still want to see VE reunite.”
He added that his friendship with the former members remains strong despite their busy schedules and infrequent meetings.
Meanwhile, Lah is looking forward to sharing the stage with Innuendo, Ruffedge, The Fabulous Cats and Datin Alyah at ‘Soul City: An R&B Night’ at Unifi Arena, Bukit Jalil, on July 10.
