SELANGAU: The construction of SMK Selangau has reached 64.72 per cent physical progress and remains ahead of its implementation schedule, with the project expected to be fully completed by the end of 2026.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas was briefed on the project’s latest progress during a working visit to the construction site on Friday (June 26).
The briefing was delivered by Chieng Siong Ming, an engineer with the Public Works Department (PWD) Sibu Division, who outlined the current status of the project and ongoing construction activities.
During the visit, Uggah inspected several key components of the development to ensure works are progressing according to schedule, comply with required specifications, and maintain quality and safety standards throughout the construction period.
Once completed, SMK Selangau will feature an academic block comprising 18 classrooms, administrative offices, laboratories, workshops, a surau, canteen and assembly square.
The school will also include separate boys’ and girls’ hostels capable of accommodating 400 students, 20 units of teachers’ quarters and various supporting facilities to cater to the needs of the school community.
Uggah also expressed his appreciation to PWD, the contractor and all parties involved for their commitment and dedication in ensuring the smooth implementation of the project.
“I hope the momentum of this project’s implementation can be maintained so that the school can be completed ahead of schedule and bring benefits to students, teachers and the community in Selangau,” he said in his Facebook post.
The project is expected to provide more comprehensive, comfortable and conducive educational facilities, student accommodation and teachers’ housing, benefiting both the SMK Selangau community and the surrounding area upon its completion.
