KUCHING: The Sarawak Government welcomes the federal government’s move to expand the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) to cover company-registered jeeps and pickups, following a press conference here today.
Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Sarawak’s Director, Matthew Dominic Barin, said the new category, known as the Land Transport Sector (company-owned private vehicles, including jeeps and pick-up trucks), takes the total number of eligible vehicle classes under SKDS to 35, up from 23 previously.

He was accompanied by Federal Finance Officer, Leonard Wilfred Yussin, and Deputy State Secretary, Datuk Felicia Tan Ya Hua, at the press conference.
Matthew said registration for the new category opened today (Friday, July 3), with subsidy eligibility taking effect from July 15, subject to approval and the issuance of a fleet card.
To qualify, he said the vehicle must be registered as a business vehicle under the Company Private (AE) usage class in the Road Transport Department’s (JPJ) MySikap system, and the business must be registered as a sole proprietorship or partnership through the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) or the relevant local authority in Sabah and Sarawak.
He said more than 26,000 vehicles had registered under SKDS in Sarawak so far, out of 37,880 eligible vehicles statewide.
Matthew urged eligible company vehicle owners to register at KPDN offices or apply online via the MySubsidi portal to check their eligibility and begin enjoying the diesel subsidy.
He added that KPDN Sarawak had also briefed Sarawak Transport Minister, Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, on the SKDS rollout and diesel subsidy implementation.
