KUCHING: Police arrested a 53-year-old local man and seized 5.02 grammes of syabu worth RM552 during a raid at Kampung Bintawa Ulu on Friday (July 3).

Kuching Police Chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, said the arrest was made at about 1:00 pm by officers from the district Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID).

“The suspect tested negative for drugs during the initial urine screening and was found to have no previous criminal record.

“He has been remanded for four days from July 5 to 8 to assist investigations,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Alexson said the arrest resulted from continuous intelligence gathering and cooperation from the public.

He said police would not compromise with those involved in drug trafficking, adding that the public could channel information through the NCID hotline at 012-208 7222 or the Sarawak NCID hotline at 017-592 9211.
