KUALA LUMPUR: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg attended the Seventh National Climate Change Action Council (MTPIN) Meeting for 2026 at the Malaysian Houses of Parliament here today (July 8).

According to a statement posted on the Sarawakku Facebook page, the meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and served as a platform to strengthen cooperation between the Federal Government, state governments and relevant agencies in accelerating the implementation of the nation’s climate change agenda.

It said the council discussed the impacts of global warming on Malaysia and the preparatory measures needed to mitigate its effects on the national economy.

It added that the council also examined new opportunities to enhance Malaysia’s economic competitiveness in line with the transition towards low-carbon, sustainable and climate-resilient development.

Also present at the meeting were MTPIN council members, federal ministers, chief ministers, state secretaries, as well as representatives from various ministries and relevant agencies.
