SEBUYAU: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg led a motorcycle convoy from Batang Lupar to Sibu today, using the more than 200-kilometre journey to engage with communities and observe development projects along one of the state’s key growth corridors.

The convoy began after the Premier officiated at the opening of the Batang Lupar Bridge, travelling through Pusa and Sarikei, where residents gathered along the route to greet the delegation, wave to the convoy, and capture the moment with photographs.

The first stop was at Dataran Tandang Sari in Pusa, where Abang Johari spent time interacting with community leaders, village heads and residents over light refreshments before continuing the journey.

In Sarikei, the Premier and his delegation performed combined Zohor and Asar prayers at Masjid Al-Mutaqqin before once again meeting members of the local community.

The convoy included state government leaders, escort officers, personnel from the Royal Malaysia Police, media representatives and support teams, reflecting the coordinated effort behind the cross-state journey.

Beyond the motorcycle ride, the convoy underscored the Sarawak Government’s commitment to maintaining close engagement with the people while enabling the Premier to personally monitor development progress and gather feedback from communities along the route.

The journey concluded with the delegation’s arrival at RH Hotel in Sibu this afternoon.
