KUCHING: The Johor state election result should serve as a reminder for governments to continue delivering on their promises and not become complacent, says PRS Youth chief Christopher Gira Sambang.
Congratulating Barisan Nasional (BN) on its convincing victory, he said the outcome reflected voters’ confidence in leadership that delivers results, ensures political stability and remains close to the people.
“While Johor and Sarawak have different political landscapes, cultures and demographics, the underlying message is universal.
“The people will continue to support governments that deliver results, provide political stability and remain close to the rakyat,” he said in a statement today (July 12).
Gira said the result reinforced the importance of maintaining the strengths that had enabled the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government to earn public trust, particularly through political stability, strong leadership and effective governance.
However, he stressed that trust must be sustained through integrity, efficient service delivery and timely implementation of development projects, especially in rural and interior areas.
He also said young people now expected more than political rhetoric, calling for better education, quality jobs, entrepreneurship support, digital connectivity and greater opportunities to shape Sarawak’s future.
Gira said PRS Youth would continue strengthening its grassroots network, engaging directly with young people, nurturing future leaders and bridging youth aspirations with government policies.
“Our responsibility is not only to prepare for elections but also to serve the people consistently between elections,” he said.
He added that PRS would continue working with its GPS partners to safeguard rural interests, strengthen Dayak representation and support Sarawak’s long term development agenda.
He also noted that the Johor election should encourage all political parties to work harder, listen more closely to the people and improve service delivery.
“Ultimately, elections are won not only through campaigns but through years of dedicated service, credible leadership and the confidence that tomorrow will be better than today,” he said.
