KUCHING: Toastmasters Division D is launching a series of speechcraft workshops this month to help students and working adults strengthen their communication and leadership skills through practical public speaking training.

Division D Director Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) Liu San Liang said the workshops mark the start of the 2026-2027 Toastmasters term, which will see various programmes organised under the theme, ‘Connect Voices, Build Leaders’.

“To foster communication and leadership skills development among members of the public, we will be organising two speechcraft workshops this July,” he said in a press release.

The first workshop, organised by Kuching Bilingual Toastmasters Club, will be held on July 22 from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm at Homestay Hotel, Jalan Ellis, while Utama Toastmasters Club will conduct its Speechcraft Transformation Day on July 25 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Kuching Community Social Support Centre (CSSC), Jalan Abell here.

Liu said the workshops will be led by experienced Toastmasters from the public and private sectors, giving participants practical exposure to the fundamentals of effective public speaking.

“Participants will be introduced to the nuts and bolts of public speaking, including the importance of speech organisation, body language and taking that all-important first step to overcome the fear of public speaking.

“In a nutshell, the Toastmasters speechcraft workshops will assist participants in turning their speaking skills into a craft while experiencing a condensed version of the Toastmasters learning journey,” he added.

He said the workshops are particularly suitable for students preparing to enter higher education or the workforce, as well as working adults seeking to improve their communication and leadership abilities.

“The speechcraft workshops would be ideal for students and working adults seeking to raise the bar, especially in honing their communication and leadership skills.

“Participants will get a head start in communication and leadership development through the speechcraft workshops,” he said.
