MIRI: A total of 90 associations, organisations and charitable bodies in the Senadin constituency have received Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants amounting to RM614,000 to strengthen the implementation of welfare, social and community programmes that directly benefit local communities.
Minister for Transport Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin said the disbursement of the grants reflects the Sarawak government’s ongoing commitment to empowering community development by supporting organisations that play an important role at the grassroots level.
He said the assistance would enable the organisations to carry out more high-impact programmes that support the people’s wellbeing and strengthen social development in the Senadin constituency.
“I hope this grant will serve as a catalyst for more programmes that benefit the community,” he said at the grant presentation ceremony at the SUPP Senadin Branch Office here today (July 18).
Lee, who is also Senadin assemblyman, said the MRP fund is among the Sarawak government’s ongoing initiatives to empower community organisations as strategic partners in carrying out welfare, community and social development activities that benefit the people.
He said the state government’s development agenda would continue to be strengthened through the implementation of various strategic infrastructure projects, including the construction of bridges, road upgrading, and the Miri-Marudi-Mulu-Long Panai-Long Lama road network, which is expected to improve connectivity to interior areas and stimulate economic growth and tourism.
He also called on the people to continue upholding unity and a spirit of cooperation to ensure the state’s development agenda can continue to be implemented for the collective wellbeing.
