MIRI: Police have arrested a 25-year-old local man and recovered a stolen motorcycle within 48 hours of the theft being reported in Tudan, Lutong.
The arrest followed a report lodged with the Miri District Police Headquarters (IPD Miri) at 1.07 pm on July 23 after the owner discovered that his blue Honda Dash 125 motorcycle, which had been parked outside his home in Tudan, had been stolen the previous day.
Acting on intelligence and follow-up investigations, a police team led by Sergeant Helmi Yusop, together with officers from the Miri Central Police Station Crime Prevention Operations Unit, arrested the suspect at Jalan Harmoni, Tudan Phase 6, at about 8 pm on Jul 24.
Police also recovered a blue Honda Dash 125 believed to be the stolen motorcycle.
The suspect is being held at the Miri Central Police Station lock-up to assist investigations under Section 379A of the Penal Code for motor vehicle theft.
Police urged members of the public to continue cooperating by providing information that could assist in combating crime.
