LUNDU: Sarawak Energy is intensifying its efforts to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in line with the Sarawak Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
Its group chief executive officer Datuk Sharbini Suhaili said the commitment is aimed at ensuring development carried out today benefits future generations.
He said that Sarawak Energy has been implementing various projects, including hydropower development, since 1985.
“Now, we are also exploring battery energy storage technology, hydroelectric pump storage and various other initiatives.
“Sarawak Energy wants to ensure that every development implemented takes into account environmental aspects, meets community expectations and ensures a sustainable future for future generations,” he said.
He said this when met by reporters during the Sarawak Energy’s Tree Planting, Protection and Habitat Restoration Campaign 2021 to 2030 with Media Partners In Collaboration with Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) at Samunsam Wildlife Sanctuary here today (July 27).
He added that Sarawak Energy is always committed to finding and implementing various initiatives that emphasize sustainability and green development aspects to support the achievement of the SDGs.
“Especially in the last 10 years, we have strived to ensure that these goals can be realised.
“It is important for us to preserve the environment, meet community expectations and continue to contribute towards creating a better world for our children and future generations,” he added.
