KUCHING: The Kuching International Cat Festival 2026 will return to the Kuching Waterfront from Oct 2 to 4, featuring a line-up of international and community events aimed at strengthening the city’s reputation as the world’s renowned “Cat City”.

Preparations for the annual festival were among the matters discussed during a courtesy call by a delegation from the Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) on Dayang Norjihan Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the Satria Pertiwi Complex here today (July 28).

The delegation, led by DBKU Community Services Department deputy director Rudzaimeir Malek, also extended an invitation for Dayang Norjihan to attend the festival as its guest of honour.

During the meeting, DBKU outlined several major highlights of this year’s festival, including the World Cat Federation International Cat Show, Cat Parade, Cat Expo, and the launch of two books.

The festival is expected to further strengthen Kuching’s international image as the “Cat City” while serving as a platform to promote tourism, stimulate the local economy and bring together cat enthusiasts from Malaysia and abroad.

Also present during the courtesy call were DBKU Public Relations Division head Norhayati Bidin and Suara Sarawak representative Rudi Affendi Khalik.
