KUCHING: The International Convention of Forensic Medicine and Sciences (ICFMS) 2026 opened today, bringing together forensic professionals from Malaysia and abroad to exchange expertise, foster collaboration and explore the latest developments in forensic medicine and sciences.
Representing Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, the convention was officiated by Kuching South City Mayor, Datuk Wee Hong Seng, at Sheraton Hotel here.
Welcoming delegates, Ministry of Health Malaysia’s Head of Forensic Pathology Specialty, Dr Khairul Anuar Zainun, described ICFMS as an important platform that brings together experts from forensic medicine and related disciplines to exchange knowledge, strengthen professional collaboration and share best practices.
“Throughout the next few days, delegates will benefit from an exciting scientific programme comprising keynote lectures, plenary sessions, workshops, symposiums, oral and poster presentations, and opportunities for professional networking,” he said.
Dr Khairul Anuar encouraged participants to actively exchange ideas, forge new collaborations and make full use of the convention as a platform for professional learning and networking.
The three-day programme features keynote addresses, scientific presentations, workshops and networking sessions, providing delegates with opportunities to discuss emerging issues, share research findings, and strengthen professional partnerships.
“ICFMS reflects our shared commitment to advancing forensic medicine and forensic sciences through research, education, innovation and international collaboration, while strengthening public confidence in our profession,” Dr Khairul Anuar reiterated.
