KOTA SAMARAHAN: ‘Karnival Jom Heboh Sarawak Segulai Sejalai 2026’ is featuring a total of 70 booths, including 44 food and beverage stalls offering a blend of local delicacies and popular vendors from Peninsular Malaysia.
Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, expressed delight over the strong public turnout after touring the event site at the Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) grounds today.
“I am quite impressed with what I saw here. There are government agencies showcasing their roles and programmes, alongside food and merchandise booths.
“Even on day one, it’s already drawing crowds, and I expect it to be packed over the weekend,” he told reporters after his walkabout.
Abdul Karim noted that bringing the carnival to Kota Samarahan is particularly timely given its status as Sarawak’s primary education hub.
He commended Media Prima and all organising partners for hosting the event in the division, emphasising its dual role in public outreach and community recreation.
The three-day carnival features dynamic nightly entertainment, kicking off with local Sarawakian artistes on the opening night, followed by popular Peninsular Malaysia performers associated with Media Prima and TV3 over the weekend.
Abdul Karim encouraged residents from Kota Samarahan, Kuching, Serian, Bau, and surrounding areas to join the festivities and take advantage of various attractions, including discounted essential items at the Jualan Rahmah booth.
Also present during the walkabout were Karnival Jom Heboh’s Project Director, Elleen Lim; MPKS Chairman, Abang Ismawi Abang Ali; and Samarahan Resident, Mohamad Irwan Bahari Bujang.
