Two-day brick-building championship and community market set for Boulevard Shopping Mall
MIRI: Kanopi Karya is bringing ‘Kanopi Karya Brick World’ to Miri at Boulevard Shopping Mall, featuring a brick-building competition aimed at children and families.
The event takes place at Level 3 (Stage Area) of Boulevard Shopping Mall today (Aug 1) and tomorrow (Sunday, Aug 2).
It is designed for children to build, create and compete, while giving the Miri community a reason to come together over the weekend.
Other than the main competition, there will be a community of local vendors selling food, drinks and hand-made goods. The organiser believes that this will give small local businesses in Miri a platform to reach a wider audience.
The main event highlighted is the Brick Masters Championship 2026, a brick-building competition open to children aged between 4 and 12 years old.
The contest is split into three age-based categories: Category A (ages 4-6), Category B (ages 7-9) and Category C (ages 10-12), with each category judged separately.

A fourth category, Category D, for students under Program Pendidikan Khas Integrasi (PPKI), aged between seven and 15 years old, is also included as part of the competition.
This category is a way to give PPKI students the opportunity to take part in the competition and to focus on inclusivity.
Participants in all categories will go through qualifying rounds, semi-finals and finals, with judges assessing their creativity, originality and problem-solving skills under time constraints.
As part of giving back to the community, RM5 from every participant’s registration fee will be given to a local orphanage in Miri. This means that each entry gives way beyond the competition itself.
Kanopi Karya aims to create a platform for small business owners to display their products, gain exposure and connect with the community. This is where community-based activities can help them too.
The public is invited to attend ‘Kanopi Karya Brick World’ at Boulevard Shopping Mall this weekend to cheer on Brick Masters Championship participants, while also supporting local businesses and spending time with their families.
