PADAWAN: Two motorists were found driving with alcohol consumption levels above the permitted limit during a six-hour ‘Ops Mabuk’ operations at Batu 7, Jalan Penrissen here.
Padawan Police Chief, Supt Barry William, said the operationa, conducted from 11:30 pm on Friday (Aug 7) to 5:30 am this morning, saw 69 vehicles and 96 individuals checked.
He said three motorists initially tested positive during preliminary breath screening and were subsequently subjected to Evidential Breath Analyser (EBA II) tests.
“Of the three, two – a 29-year-old motorcyclist and a 23-year-old car driver – recorded alcohol levels above the prescribed limit.
“The motorcyclist recorded 136mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood, while the car driver recorded 96mg per 100ml.
“Both were taken to the Padawan District Police Headquarters Traffic Division for further action under Section 45A(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said.
Police also issued 56 summonses for various traffic offences during the overnight operation.
Among the offences detected were modified exhaust and vehicle structures, dazzling lights, non-compliant registration plates, driving without a licence or insurance, expired road tax and licences, and dangerous loads.
The operations involved one senior police officer, 10 personnel from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division, and four Police Volunteer Reserve personnel.
