KUCHING: A flight aboard AirBorneo became a proud moment for Puncak Borneo MP Datuk Willie Mongin when he discovered that the aircraft was piloted by Captain Lawrence, a fellow Puncak Borneo native from Kampung Simpok.

Willie, who was travelling with the airline for the second time, said seeing someone from his constituency at the helm of the aircraft demonstrated what young Sarawakians could achieve when given the opportunity.

“As a fellow Anak Puncak Borneo, I could not be prouder. Seeing our own people reaching the skies, literally and figuratively, is a wonderful reminder that our young people from Sarawak can achieve great things when given the opportunity,” he said in a recent Facebook post.

Willie congratulated Lawrence on his achievement and expressed hope that the pilot would continue to inspire the younger generation.

“Well done, Captain Lawrence. Keep flying high and continue to inspire our young generation,” he said.

Willie said the experience also reflected AirBorneo’s role in providing a platform for Sarawakians to showcase their talent.

He praised the airline’s warm hospitality, friendly service and professional cabin crew, saying these qualities made the journey enjoyable.

“For me, AirBorneo is not just about getting from one destination to another. It is about service, hospitality, identity and giving Sarawakians an opportunity to shine,” he said.

Willie said the food served onboard was satisfying, while the welcome drink provided a refreshing start to the flight

He also commended the cabin crew for their smart and courteous appearance, which he said reflected professionalism and Sarawakian hospitality.

“The aircraft was clean, comfortable and cosy, while onboard announcements were delivered fluently in Malay and English,” he said.

Willie said his second journey with AirBorneo had left another positive impression.

“Keep it up, AirBorneo. From Sarawak to the world, nang steady,” he said.
