KUCHING: Children will get the opportunity to strengthen their English language skills while exploring Borneo’s culture and environmental heritage through the Borneo English Learning Camp 2026 on Aug 29.
Organised by Art Thematic International Sarawak, the half-day programme themed “Culture & Eco-Explorers” will be held at the Borneo Cultures Museum here from 8.30am to 12.30pm.
The interactive camp combines English learning with cultural exploration and environmental awareness, allowing participants to practise four core language skills through activities conducted within the museum setting.
Participants will take part in four learning quests — Read & Discover, Listen & Record, Ask & Talk, and Reflect & Write — covering reading, listening, speaking and writing.
Through the activities, children will read exhibits and discover aspects of nature and culture, listen to audio stories and conversations, discuss sustainability-related ideas and complete written reflections on their experiences and aspirations for the future.
The programme will also include a museum discovery tour, English team challenges and other interactive learning activities aimed at encouraging children to use English beyond the conventional classroom environment.
Held in partnership with the Global Sustainability Awards (GSA), the camp incorporates environmental awareness and elements of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into its learning activities.
According to the programme information, the initiative is intended to inspire children to become confident communicators while developing greater awareness of sustainability and their responsibilities towards the environment.
The programme highlights several SDGs, including Quality Education, Sustainable Cities and Communities, Responsible Consumption and Production, Climate Action and Life on Land.
Each participant will receive an Eco-Culture Explorer Certificate and complete an Explorer Passport as part of the programme.
The participation fee is RM98 per child, inclusive of refreshments.
