SHAH ALAM: A fertiliser factory which was also used to store car engine oil along Jalan Bukit Cherakah, Section U9, near the Monterez Golf Club, was severely damaged in a fire last night.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Division assistant director Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the 40‑by‑100‑square‑foot premises did not result in any loss of life or injuries. The cause of the fire and total losses have yet to be determined.

“We received an emergency call at 10.49 pm, and the first fire engine from the Bukit Jelutong Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene 10 minutes later.

“The fire involved a Class B building structure used as a fertiliser processing facility and vehicle engine oil storage,” he said in a statement today.

He said 25 officers and personnel, along with fire engines from the Bukit Jelutong, Sungai Buloh, Shah Alam, and Klang Utara fire stations, were deployed to prevent the fire from spreading.

He added that 22 members from four Voluntary Fire Brigades from Saujana Utama, Rantau Panjang, Klang (Briged Amal), Kampung Delek, and Serdang also assisted in the operations.

“The fire was brought under control at 11.23 pm and fully extinguished at 1.25 am, after which rescue teams conducted overhaul works to ensure no remaining embers could reignite,” he said. – BERNAMA
