SHANGHAI: Five agreements covering intelligent construction, manufacturing, mineral development and oil and gas services were exchanged during Sarawak’s investment mission to Shanghai on Thursday (Aug 13).
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan in a statement said the agreements reflected growing collaboration between the business communities of Sarawak and China.
He said they also demonstrated strong interest among Chinese companies in exploring new opportunities and establishing a presence in Sarawak.
The agreements included a memorandum of agreement (MoA) between Chongqing Intelligent Construction and Construction Robotics Industry Centre and FAME International Construction Technology Sdn Bhd to jointly develop the intelligent construction market in Malaysia.

A factory construction agreement was also exchanged between Torch Energy Storage Technology Sdn Bhd and Acute Iconic Sdn Bhd for the construction of a factory at Samajaya Hi-Tech Park in Kuching.
The proposed factory will have a gross floor area of approximately 150,000 square feet.
Another MoA between EcoNature New Material Technology Sdn Bhd and Pawoke Mineral Fiber Products Group Co Ltd involves the development of a basalt fibre manufacturing facility.
Meanwhile, Tecktonic Minerals Sdn Bhd exchanged two memoranda of inderstanding (MoUs), including one with Sound Achiever Limited (HK) for collaboration on a mineral development project in Sarawak.
Its second MoU, with Shanghai Richtech Technology Company Limited (HK), involves establishing a fully localised oil and gas exploration, development, investment and professional services entity in Sarawak.
The statement added that Sarawak has made strategic investments in large-scale infrastructure to support high-technology, energy-intensive and heavy industries, while offering competitively priced utilities, including electricity and water, among the most competitive in the region.
“Government-developed industrial land is competitively priced, with a 30 per cent rebate available for eligible projects completed within the stipulated timeframe.
“The objective is to create an investment environment where businesses can establish themselves, grow and remain competitive over the long term,” the statement added.
The mission also featured the Sarawak-China Strategic Investment Roundtable, which brought together businesses and stakeholders to explore investment opportunities and strengthen economic cooperation.
The roundtable focused on sectors including advanced manufacturing, renewable energy, digital economy, green technology, technology transfer, smart infrastructure, robotics and artificial intelligence.
