MIRI: More than 2,600 dogs have now been vaccinated against rabies and fitted with microchips this month, as Sarawak’s Transport Minister called for the twice-weekly mobile clinic programme to be expanded further.
Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, who is also Senadin assemblyman, said Saturday’s session of the vaccination programme —the third deployment this month— had taken the running total to 2,663 dogs vaccinated and microchipped.
The programme uses mobile veterinary units to bring services directly to residents at locations across the city, rather than requiring pet owners to travel to fixed clinics.
“We must continue and intensify our efforts to make Miri a rabies-free city,” Lee said, adding that broader participation directly strengthens protection for the wider community.
“The higher the vaccination coverage, the stronger our protection against rabies,” he assured.
The next session is scheduled for 22 and 23 August, from 9am to 4pm, at Taman Awam Miri.
