KUCHING: MAGGI® crowned Nurjehan Salleh from Samarahan the grand prize winner of its Gawai campaign, driving away with a limited-edition Ford Ranger XL.
The presentation took place at Vivacity Mall here today, marking the culmination of MAGGI’s annual ‘Jom Masak & Menang Bersama Gawai’ campaign.
The Ford Ranger XL awarded to the winner features a bespoke design inspired by Sarawak’s local motifs.
Alongside the prize presentation, MAGGI® announced a RM15,000 contribution to Helping Hands Penan to support the education of 55 Penan students.
“MAGGI® shows up for Gawai every year because it is a celebration deeply rooted in family, food and community – all the things that bring Sarawakians together,” said Ivy Tan Link Cheh, Business Executive Officer of MAGGI® Malaysia and Singapore.
The contribution will go towards Helping Hands Penan’s Education Sponsorship Programme, covering the monthly education sponsorships of 55 Penan students from primary school through tertiary level for the next three months.
The funds will support students’ transportation, school supplies, accommodation and living expenses.
Helping Hands Penan’s Director, Violette Tan, said the contribution would ease financial pressures on Penan families and directly support the livelihoods of Penan women.
“By ensuring their children’s education is secured, the programme also directly supports Penan women’s livelihoods by alleviating financial pressures on families,” she said.
In a statement, Women, Family and Community Development Minister, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, said the contribution reflected MAGGI’s broader commitment to empowering women, pointing to its nationwide ‘Program Wanita Cukup Berani’ initiative.
Throughout its Gawai campaign, MAGGI® also worked with cultural advocates including Karen R. Yap in Sarawak and Chef Melvin Gatu in Sabah, bringing its message to cultural celebrations such as Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan, Pesta Rakit and the Tematu EthnoFest.
Also present at the event was Mohammed Kamaluddin Mohd Effendie, Political Secretary to Nancy Shukri, who represented the minister.
