SERIAN: Police arrested a local man for allegedly raping his own daughter at a house in Kampung Krusen Mawang here.
Serian police chief Supt Freddy Bian Stanislaus Bian said police received a report from the 14-year-old victim at around 5.06am on Sunday (Aug 16).
Acting on the report, a police team arrested the 35-year-old suspect, who is the victim’s biological father, to assist in investigations.
“The suspect will be brought before the court on Aug 17 for a remand application to facilitate further investigations.
“The case is being probed under Section 376B of the Penal Code for incest,” he said.
If convicted, the offence carries a jail term of up to 30 years, as well as whipping.
Freddy said police take all forms of sexual offences and child exploitation seriously.
