BAU: A double-storey house in Kampung Bogag, Jalan Bau-Serikin, was broken into last Friday (Aug 21) with a red gas cylinder worth about RM90 stolen.
Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the incident was discovered by the homeowner, a teacher, at around 5 pm after she found the living room window open with its grille bent.
“Her inspection of the house found the bedrooms upstairs in disarray, while a red gas cylinder was missing from the kitchen.
“It was understood that the house had been unoccupied since June, although the homeowner visited daily to feed her pets,” he said.
Police believe the suspect entered through an unlocked sliding door at the side of the house, where the window grille was bent, before leaving through a side door.
Haide said the case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking and theft.
Efforts are underway to identify and track down the suspect.
