KUCHING: Three friends were each fined RM500, in default two months’ imprisonment, by the Magistrates’ Court here today (Aug 26) for taking part in a fight outside a bar along Jalan Song.

The three accused, aged between 18 and 21, pleaded guilty to the charge before Magistrate Ling Hui Chuan.

They were charged under Section 160 of the Penal Code, which provides for a maximum six months’ imprisonment, a fine of up to RM1,000, or both upon conviction.

According to the facts of the case, the incident occurred at about 4 am on Aug 18 outside of a bar near Jalan Song.

The court heard that the complainant was drinking with two friends when three men allegedly approached and attacked them.

The complainant sustained injuries to his right knee, pain in his right wrist after being struck with a chair, as well as pain and swelling to his head and neck.

One of the friends suffered injuries to his right arm and knee, while another sustained pain and swelling to his left cheek, head and hip.
