KUCHING: A search for a missing 63-year-old woman ended in tragedy this morning when her body was discovered at the bottom of a 10-foot-deep drain near Petra Jaya Health Clinic here.
The victim was found by members of the public before firefighters were called to retrieve her from the drain.
It was reported that the woman was feared missing yesterday (Wed, Aug 26), with her disappearance realised by her child last night.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Petra Jaya station were dispatched to the scene following a distress call at 9:34 am.
Upon arrival, the team confirmed the discovery and recovered the body from the drain.
The operations ended at 10:47am, after which the victim’s body was handed over to police for further action.
The circumstances surrounding the woman’s death is currently under police investigation.
