DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (UAE): The UAE has allocated USD10 million to provide urgent humanitarian aid to those affected by severe flooding in Nepal, according to the country’s state news agency WAM on Thursday (Aug. 27), reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.

The assistance was provided through the UAE AID agency, the report said.

A powerful torrent of water rushed into the Bhotekoshi River in mountainous Nepal on Wednesday.

The flood was caused by a glacier collapse and debris flow.

The death toll from Nepal’s floods has reached 389, the Ratopati newspaper reported on Thursday, citing local police.

The Nepal Tourism Board has said that more than 660 tourists are missing after the flooding. – BERNAMA-SPUTNIK/RIA NOVOSTI
