LUBOK ANTU: The Sarawak Government is continuing development efforts in Batang Ai through infrastructure projects and funding support aimed at meeting the needs of rural communities.
Deputy Minister of International Trade, Industry and Investment Sarawak, Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh, said rural development must continue to ensure residents benefited from improvements in infrastructure and the State’s economic progress.
“Several major development projects, such as the Batang Ai and Lemanak Road Project, are currently being implemented and are expected to benefit local residents upon completion,” he said.
He was speaking at the Lubok Antu District Council (MDLA) Community Programme for the Batang Ai State Legislative Assembly constituency here on Thursday (Aug. 27).
Malcolm, who is also Batang Ai assemblyman, said Sarawak’s continued economic growth had enabled the State Government to allocate RM14.2 billion under the Sarawak Budget 2026 to advance various development agendas statewide.
Meanwhile, he approved RM15,000 in Minor Rural Project (MRP) funding for the Krangan Mong Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) and RM10,000 for its Women’s Bureau.
The Krangan Mong JKKK also received RM150,000 under the Rural Transformation Project (RTP).
He said the allocations demonstrated the government’s continued commitment to addressing grassroots needs, particularly by strengthening facilities and supporting rural community development.
