PADAWAN: Eighteen individuals were arrested during ‘Ops Tapis Khas’, conducted in the district from August 25 to 27.
Padawan Police Chief, Supt Barry William, said the three-day operations were carried out by the district Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID), targeting drug hotspots within its jurisdiction.
“The department arrested 18 suspects allegedly involved in drug abuse activities, comprising 17 men and one woman.
“All suspects are aged between 19 and 56, and were detained for various drug offences under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said in a statement.
Of the total, one arrest was made under Section 39A(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, while four arrests were made under Section 12(3) of the same Act.
Additionally, the NCID made 13 arrests under Section 15(1)(a) of the Act.
“Police also seized 1.56 grammes of drugs believed to be syabu (crystal methamphetamine) and 110 millilitres of liquid cannabis, estimated to be worth RM19,880.
“The police force will continue to conduct comprehensive operations to combat drug-related crime within the Padawan district,” Barry added.
