KUCHING: Motorists using Jalan Matang have been advised to plan their journeys ahead following a temporary road closure and traffic diversions from Sept 3 to 12 to facilitate water pipe repair works.
Sarawak Water Sdn Bhd said the traffic measures are necessary to carry out repair works involving the 1,100mm mild steel cement-lined (MSCL) main pipe along Jalan Matang.
The scheduled repair works will begin at 10pm on Friday (Sept 4) and are expected to be completed by 12pm on Saturday (Sept 5).
Throughout the period, motorists travelling between Matang and Kuching in both directions should use the designated temporary diversion routes.
Road users have also been urged to follow temporary traffic signs and instructions from traffic controllers and flagmen when approaching the affected area.
Motorists should reduce their speed, observe cones, barriers and road closure signs, and allow additional travelling time due to the diversions.
Sarawak Water apologised for any inconvenience caused and thanked road users for their cooperation and patience throughout the closure and repair works.
