SERIAN: The Serian divisional administration is awaiting further directives from the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) on the haze situation, with no haze emergency declared so far.
Serian Resident Mackos Sibong said the administration was still waiting for further decisions and announcements from the relevant authorities.
“The haze emergency has not been declared. We are still waiting for further announcements,” he told Sarawak Tribune today.
In the meantime, he said community leaders had already been informed of the situation, with reminders conveyed to residents through district officers.
“Community leaders have been informed and reminders have been conveyed through the district officers for residents to take precautionary measures in accordance with guidelines issued by the Serian Divisional Health Office,” he added.



Mackos said haze-related press statements issued by SDMC were also being shared with community leaders from time to time for the information of residents under their respective jurisdictions.
He said the divisional administration would continue to follow further directives issued by SDMC.
Meanwhile, Serian recorded an Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 519 at 1:00 pm today (Sept. 4).
API readings above 500 falls under the emergency category.
