MARUDI: A gaharu tree came crashing down onto the roof of a house at Kampung Pemindahan here on Friday, damaging the roof but leaving the occupant unharmed.
The incident at Lot 214, Lorong 3A, was reported to the Marudi District Defence Operations Control Centre (PKOD) at 12:28 pm.
A three-member Bravo Squad from the Marudi District Civil Defence Force (APM) was dispatched at 12.30 pm and reached the scene about 10 minutes later.
Led by Lance Corporal (PA) Kamil Tahir, the team found the fallen tree had landed on the house roof.
The occupant was confirmed safe and did not suffer any injuries.
The team then used chainsaws to cut up and remove the tree before clearing the affected area and ensuring it was safe.
The operations ended at 2:25 pm, with the team returning to the Marudi PKOD 15 minutes later.
Also involved were Private (PA) Bennister Bana Sulang, the driver, and Private (PA) Mohd Zairrulasri Johari.
The operations were carried out using safety helmets, protective gloves and two chainsaws.
