KUCHING: The Sarawak Scout Contingent returned from the 15th Malaysia Scout Jamboree with seven gold awards, five silver and one bronze following a strong showing in Batu Kawan, Penang.
Scouts Association of Malaysia Sarawak Branch’s Executive Secretary, Zasran Abdullah, said the contingent also finished first runner-up in the Cultural Dance Competition, represented by scouts from St Joseph’s Private Secondary School, Kuching.
“The jamboree may have come to an end, but the memories created in Batu Kawan will remain forever etched in the hearts of every member of the Sarawak Scout Contingent. This success belongs to all of us,” he said in a statement.
Contingent leader, Azrul Azeem Selamat, expressed pride in the results, particularly as it was his first time leading Sarawak at the national jamboree.
He said the achievements reflected the commitment, hard work and sacrifices of everyone involved, including those working behind the scenes.
Although Sarawak did not secure a placing in the Camp Gate Design Competition, Zasran said the team’s dedication and cooperation demonstrated an extraordinary spirit and brought honour to the contingent.
Throughout the jamboree, the scouts took part in various individual and group activities to earn achievement badges while building friendships with participants from other states and countries.
“Despite the various challenges and limitations encountered at the campsite, the contingent’s spirit and commitment never wavered.
“Every problem was overcome together, turning those challenges into valuable experiences and cherished memories,” Zasran said.
