KUCHING: Sarawak Energy has lodged a police report over a threatening social media comment that allegedly urged people to gather at its premises and carry out potentially violent or dangerous acts involving hazardous materials.
In a statement posted in its Facebook post, Sarawak Energy said the matter had also been referred to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and is now under investigation.
Sarawak Energy also said it takes any statement that could pose a risk to public safety seriously, while respecting the right of individuals to voice concerns through lawful means.
“The safety and security of our employees, customers, visitors and the public remain a priority,” it said today (Sept 9).
Sarawak Energy said it would continue engaging customers to address concerns over electricity bills and services, including through individual account reviews and clear explanations of billing matters.
“As part of these efforts, special customer service counters are available throughout September at Wisma SESCO, Kuching, with the initiative also extended to Sibu, Bintulu and Miri.
“Customers are welcome to meet our customer service team in person to have their accounts reviewed and billing matters explained clearly.
“Customers may also contact the Sarawak Energy Customer Care Centre at 1300-88-3111,” it added.
More information on the special counters and other customer support channels is available on Sarawak Energy’s website at https://www.sarawakenergy.com/media-info/media-releases/2026/sarawak-energy-expands-customer-support-for-billing-concerns.
