KOTA KINABALU: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg attended a state dinner organised by the Sabah government here on Thursday (Sept 10), ahead of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 Implementation Action Council (MTPMA63) meeting.

The dinner, held at The Magellan Sutera Resort, was also attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor.

Joining Abang Johari were Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, as well as State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.

Hajiji addressed the guests during the event before the dinner proceeded.

The gathering was held ahead of the MTPMA63 meeting scheduled to take place at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) here on Sept 11.

The meeting, to be chaired by Anwar, serves as one of the key platforms for the federal government, Sarawak and Sabah to discuss and coordinate matters concerning the implementation of MA63.

Among the issues under its purview are matters concerning the rights and interests of Sarawak and Sabah under the agreement.

Sarawak’s participation in the meeting reflects the State’s continued commitment to ensuring outstanding matters related to MA63 remain on the agenda and are addressed through negotiations with the Federal Government and Sabah.
